Early July Happenings
The new Jacaranda bloomed, which is exciting considering it hasn't even been a year since the slaughter.
The Topsy Turvy did not disappoint. Even though the tomato plant didn't grow to be very large (like I have seen with other Topsy Turvies), it produced many tomatoes!
The hydrangeas in the backyard came back!
And we planted the veggie garden. Note to self: Putting seeds directly in the soil rarely results in a successful garden. The seeds must be kept wet in order to produce. This can be difficult if you have a life. Like last year, starting the seeds in cups in my kitchen yielded more veggies. I planted the starters in the garden after about a week or two and we had vegetables all summer. This time, by putting seeds directly into the ground, we got green onions, and that's it. I also put a few lettuce plants and strawberries (front row) into the garden, and those were successful because they were already started.
